Brady Churchill was born in Hawaii and grew up surfing and diving along the shores of Kailua, Oahu. He attended Santa Barbara City College, earning certification for deep sea diving before entering the prestigious Laguna Art Institute. His deep love for the ocean and mountains of Hawaii lured him back to his home where he began painting island scenes that are so familiar to him.

Influenced by earlier artists of Hawaii, Brady works almost exclusively in oils. Employing a distinct representational style, Brady relates the spirit of Hawaii’s simplistic beauty, transcending the viewer back to the days of old Hawaii.

Currently living and painting in Kailua, Brady especially enjoys capturing island scenes that tell Hawaii’s story; fisherman, canoe paddlers, beach goers, and the Koolau mountains are favorite subjects. Brady’s dedication to “en plein air” painting, the act of painting in the outside environment rather than indoors, allows him to capture the true colors and essence of the subjects he paints. His work reflects his love and appreciation of the uniqueness of Hawaii.
